Cougar First Clay 8/27/2016

I have decided to try to cast this sculpture and as a result a whole new batch of issues need to be considered. The first being the type of clay I am using. Instead of “Sculpey Original” which I have been using on the other sculptures, I am using “Sculpey Firm”.

cougar 3 Clay 8 28 2016When Sculpey says “FIRM” they mean it. Trying to knead this stuff into a workable condition is like kneading a rock. I’ve been applying the extruded sheets directly to the sculpture, then conditioning it in place. I will say one thing, once I achieve the detail I want, it stays where I want it.

I guess I’ll need to see what happens when I apply heat to it,
